On the obverse of the medal in the centre is the image of a hand palm uppermost with a dove with an olive branch in its beak above it. This is surrounded by a wreath of laurel branches, with the State Emblem of Ukraine at the top. On the reverse side of the medal there is inscribed ЗА МИРОПОХОРОННА ДІЯЛЬНІСТЬ [FOR PEACEKEEPING ACTIVITIES] with МІНІСТЕРСТВО ОБОРОНИ УКРАЇНИ [MINISTRY OF DEFENCE OF UKRAINE] around it. Clasps indicating where the peacekeeping took place may be awarded: КОСОВО [KOSOVO], АФГАНІСТАН [AFGHANISTAN], ЕФІОПІЯ ТА ЕРИТРЕЯ [ETHIOPIA AND ERITREA], ІРАК [IRAQ], МАКЕДОНІЯ [MACEDONIA], МОЛДОВА [MOLDOVA], or СЬЄРРА-ЛЕОНЕ [SIERRA LEONE].
