Description: (Friedrich August Medaille) Instituted on 23 April 1905 by King Friedrich August III of Saxony, and awarded in acknowledgement of notable service by enlisted men or NCOs and comparable civil service ranks in either war or peace, with different ribbons (yellow with black edge stripes and a narrow black central stripe for peacetime awards, yellow with light blue edge stripes for wartime). Silver medals were awarded to NCOs and equivalent civilians, bronze medals to the rest. This example is a wartime bronze medal which has been gilded, dating to the 1920s.
