Description: This cross, made of the bronze of captured Austrian cannon, was founded 20 September 1866 by King Wilhelm I of Prussia. The “Treuen Kriegern” version was given to Prussian/allied troops who were neither present at Königgrätz nor part of the Army of the Main. Including all 3 types of combatant crosses, 144,000 official pieces were awarded by 4 March 1867. The die was cut by Kullrich and Weigand.
