Erinnerungskreuz 1866 “Königgrätz”

Description: This cross, made of the bronze of captured Austrian cannon, was founded 20 September 1866 by King Wilhelm I of Prussia. The “Königgrätz” version was given to troops who participated in the battle of Königgrätz (Sadowa) on 3 July 1866. Including all 3 types of combatant crosses, 144,000 official pieces were awarded by 4 March 1867. The die was cut by Kullrich and Weigand.
