015.1: Southern Cross Decoration

Description: The insignia consists of a silver-gilt double Maltese cross, 45mm in diameter. The obverse is enamelled white with the stars of the Southern Cross constellation in silver on a blue-enamelled central disk, which has a silver edge. The reverse is plain, with the pre-1994 South African arms and a serial number. Suspension is by a protea flower to a straight ribbon hanger; the ribbon is dark blue with two narrow central white stripes. Image courtesy of eMedals.
