0305A.2: Natal Coronation Medal 1902, Local Dignatories

Added by: megan
Description: The medal for local dignatories was silver, 29mm in diameter. The obverse depicts a crowned head and shoulders portrait of King Edward VII, with the inscription TO COMMEMORATE THE CORONATION OF KING EDWARD VII. The reverse displays the coat-of-arms of the Colony with the inscription COLONY OF NATAL 26 JUNE 1902 (like most medals commemorating this coronation, the date is wrong due to the postponement of the coronation when the King was taken ill!).
