0078.0: Davison's Nile Medal 1798

Added by: megan
Description: This medal was produced by Admiral Nelson's prize agent, Alexander Davison, to mark the victory over the French at the mouth of the Nile on 1 August 1789. It was presented to all British seamen present (in different metals depending on rank) without suspension, although many recipients had a suspension added and wore it proudly, commonly on a blue ribbon.
