SUPPLIES:

  • Acid-Free heavy cardstock or cardboard or plastic (credit card thickness)
  • Child-Safe non-toxic glue stick
  • Ruler
  • Two 6 inch lengths of ribbon for each medal to be mounted
  • Black Marker
  • Felt
STEP 1:
Cut a cardboard template 3 1/2 inches long by 1 ¼ inches wide (per ribbon/medal to be mounted). Use black marker on the edges of the template to darken the cardboard edges (Fig. 1). Cut a piece of felt the size of the template.

STEP 2:
Apply adhesive at the top and the bottom of the back of the template (Fig. 2).

STEP 3:
Attach both ribbons to the template, wrapping the ribbon over the back side of the template (Fig. 3). Press the ribbons into the glue making sure to smooth the ribbon. (Fig. 4)

STEP 6:
Slide the medal on to the ribbon and pull the ribbon up towards the top of the template to a point where ¼ of the medal(s) hang below the template. (Fig. 7) This is where the medals will sit.

STEP 7:
Pull the remaining ribbon over the back and attach with Glue stick. Ensure that the ribbons are touching each other. The medals are secured with thread at their suspension. (Fig.8) Due to the width of the suspension of some medals, the medal of higher precedence overlaps the next medal (Fig. 9)
