Heinrich Prinz von Schönburg-Waldenburg is one of those that leaves us with his life story, as he wrote “Erinnerungen aus kaiserlicher Zeit”, published in 1929. Born in Droyssig on June 08, 1863, he lived an interesting life through turbulent times and the change of a century. The prince passed away in Rheda on December 28, 1945.
Besides his memories we are lucky that his personal medal bar survived:
But how can we be sure. The combination is certainly very unique and could probably traced through honor rolls and the like. Yet, photographic evidence would certainly be better.
Coincidentally such photo exist. It shows the prince late in life with his decorations and medal bar:
The bar was crafted after 1934 since he chose to add the Hindenburg Cross for War participants. Below the full size picture:
