Nice badge Fred. I collect badges too.
And we should keep on pushing to have this law changed as our medals are winding up overseas. As collectors, we preserve history and tell a story. We are not impostors.
Thanks for the response Jeff. Both Kevin and I, he’s my twin brother and we are both Vietnam veterans and life members of the VFW. Kevin was just at the convention and I believe he spoke with you there; I unfortunately was unable to make it. Perhaps I should try and get a letter off to VFW about our hobby. I am not an author but can certainly try. Any suggestions?
Perhaps OMSA should take a stand on the legitimate collecting of the Medal of Honor and push for legislation that would allow collectors to buy, sell or trade the MOH. As collectors, we are not wearing the medal or telling war stories on how we earned the medal. We preserve history and display it in approproate forums such as the recent convention and other shows. It is a shame when American medals and the history that goes along with them wind up overseas.
The law should be directed at the imposters, not the collectors!
