ParticipantThey’ve already started issuing their own:

http://www.omsa.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=9279I’ve also found breast decorations and badges. It took me months of digging to actually figure out these were Spetsviaz/FSO awards.
I actually found most of my answers in Russian newspapers, the governmental sites don’t brag too much about how the FSO got the agency back in its clutches. The Spetsviaz web site also threw me for a loop for a time… It looks more like it’s for a company like Brinks or Pinkerton than for a semi-secret government agency.

ParticipantI’ve been looking over a lot of governmental sites and found many news stories (from Russian on line papers) about how FAPSI was literally torn apart, smashed, squashed then sucked back into the FSO (which was a branch of the old KGB).
A story worthy of a Tom Clancy novel! The old KGB at its best! Wire taps, criminal accusations, framing of government officials, inter-agency rivalries, everybody vying for control of governmental comms and secret codes…
The service is now called Spetsviaz and is an integral part of the FSO. They’re doing so good, they even started offering their secure delivery services to the Russian banking community… Oh yeah, this includes their "secure" web services… Do I really need to say it?

ParticipantReally nice! I had only before seen a mere fraction of these.

ParticipantI saw one go by on the surface in the North Atlantic some years ago when on AWACS. HUGE mothaw! From a distance I though it was a cargo ship!
Incredible bit of engineering.

ParticipantWhen I originally found it, it was listed on a Cossack awards site as a Cossack award. Who actually produced and bestowed it? If it doesn’t belong in the Cossack section, I will remove it from there.
Frank Dutil
ParticipantYou’ll find some ODMs in the "Cossacks" section of the database simply marked "Cossak Medal" or "Cossack Order", this is because some awards simply cannot yet be attributed to a particular group although it is confirmed they have been bestowed.
Below are a few pics of bemedaled Cossack chests… I’ve found a mixture of Soviet, Russian Federation, Public awards, Cossack awards, even Umalatovas… Hard to distinguish them all at times.

ParticipantAgree 100%… Quote from my previous post "There’s good sides, and not so good sides, old ways and old wounds are being reopened"…
I’ve found data (current, not historical) that is actually quite alarming. But in a maybe unsuccessful attempt at neutrality in which I tried to remain apolitical and simply relay historical data… I might’ve steered a bit on the romantic. If so, it wasn’t my intention to relay such a one sided image. The alternative, to be perfectly honest, is at times quite shocking and disturbing.
My research has given me quite an insight in the actual intentions of recent "past Russian administrations" in their dealings with the Cossacks. Quite troubling actually… I dare not go deeper on the subject in here, it would soon turn into a heated socio-political debate.

ParticipantFelix is right on the money. Display purposes only. I have a uniface National Order of Merit that I got incredibly cheap because it is only meant for that purpose.

ParticipantThe Croix de Guerre is more or less an MID, the ribbon devices denote how broad the despatch actually went, regimental, brigade, division, corps, army…
To my knowledge, the CdG was always awarded with such a ribbon device.

ParticipantMerci Felix. I just got the very same answer from Marc Champenois (France Phaléristique) and Jean-Guy Batigne (French collector).
Still, for such a high decoration to have variations in design… Baffles me more than a bit.
