Left – Medal “For Valour” 2nd class (the 1st class is gilt and with a single central red stripe in the blue half of the ribbon.
Center – Medal “Veteran of Service” for 25 years of service.
Right – Medal “For the Promotion of the National Guard”
A preview of more to come, these are the new long service awards for 10, 15 and 20 years of service within the new Russian National Guard.
I think the military simply got tired of waiting, you have to admit they were patient, 100 years! Everything started moving when the Army High Command flat out published a directive to the troops to wear the medal (INSTRUCTION PROVISOIRE N° 1403/DEF/EMAT/CAB/ADM/REC relative à l’attribution de l’insigne des blessés de guerre au personnel de l’armée de terre du 14 avril 2015). Unsure if it was a nudge or an outright dare but it got things moving.
Here’s a link to the OFFICIAL DECREE
Apologies, the Decoration “Participant in Combat Operations” (Нагрудный знак «Участник боевых действий») is still awarded. The 2013 order annulled it’s 2000 creation order but the 2012 Order confirmed its active standing. Sorry for the temporary confusion.
And here’s the pot of gold! The actual current and up to date order of precedence of the MoD of the RF…
Both docs with the order of precedence of the MoD RF are incomplete. I just translated a paragraph lower in this multi dozen page document that reads: “The rest of the medals of the Ministry of Defense are worn in the sequence according to the Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, maintained by the Military Heraldry Service of the Armed Forces.”
Well crap!! Looking for this pot of gold… Will post if I ever find it.
Updated order of precedence for Defence Ministry 2015
I found the order of precedence for the Defence Ministry but it is 6 years old, so it contains only half of the current medals.
Photo of the first awards parade for the new medal.
Medal “For the Demining of Palmyra”
Established on 14 May 2016 by ministerial order 277. Awarded to soldiers of the International EOD Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and in some cases, to other citizens, for dedication, courage and professionalism in conducting demining operations in the Syrian city of Palmyra in April and May 2016, for the performance of tasks in the detection and neutralization of explosive devices in the area, as well as for the organization and manual demining.
Also rumoured to have been minted in numbers around 3000. The ribbon is similar to the ribbon from the Medal “Participant in Military Operations in Syria”, the Syrian national colours have simply been reversed on it.
This was the set before the theft.
OK… My next question is as follows, apologies if it seems a bit sarcastic.
Is there ANY WAY to make the font and post colours a bit paler?? I can still manage to read some of the forum and navigate a bit… Seriously… Some contrast, ANY contrast would actually be appreciated.
How does one now upload photos to the database?
Here she is… The keen eye will notice the new AF emblem on the reverse bearing the star at the point where the prop and the sword cross.
