Also the blue/red ribbon is also used the AIR FORCE ROTC AIR COMMANDO AWARD. This medal was first award a few years ago and I have seen it mainly awarded to AFJROTC cadets.
The Medal is awarded by the Scabbard and Blades. That there insignia in the center disk. It comes in Gold, Silver and Bronze. It was first authorized in 1939, I will have to dig out my Scabbard and Blade Journal from 1942 to check the date.
Well, I checked the website in the first post and it only list 16 Companions left as of 20 October 2015:
Yves de DARUVAR
Are they all gone now?
Any update to this list?
Interesting thing about the photos is that Col Day is wearing the ribbon for the Army Good Conduct Medal, but his record only shows the Marine Good Conduct Medal used while he was a marine in World War 2.
In the first photo what is the Mini Medal in front of the DSO? Second Question, if the holder was also awarded the Victoria Cross, would it be worn before or after it?
These turn up from time to time in both the (Air) cadet and the (Army) cadet version. I bought a few, for as little $5.00 and seen them go for a lot more, depending on who is bidding on them. Hard to tell from what period it is from because not engraved on back. This style was award up till the 70s.
I wish Doc the best. A old saying, "trouble comes in 3’s". I hope his bad luck is over.January 7, 2014 at 2:50 am in reply to: US Service/Campaign Medals alloud to be worn of the CDF unif #16966
Just Bumping this up
What the LA Fraternal supply co website?
Will be getting the General Orders manual written by the Bureau of Navigation this week. It is 845 pages long and I also purchased another manual 172 pages long. These will cover the award regulations up to where BUPERS was established. Surprised to find these manuals since they were not suppose to leave the office. They are both estate sale items.
Yes, more then likely saved by someone who sprited them from the trash can when the new ones came out. That how I got a few AFROTC cadet reg books that got outdated in my AFROTC days.
Lukasz site was the one I was looking for.
Any update on this Medal?
