The Medal of honor of Labor (Current Issue) was created by decree of 15 May 1948. It combined several different Medals of Honor then in existance, using various texts, rules & regulations of these M.O.H.’s to form the basis of the Medal of Honor of Labor. It replaced the following:

    A. M.O.H. of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Decree of 16 July 1886).

    B. The MOH of the Minstry of Labor and of Social Providence (Decrees of 1913 & 1914)

    C. "Medaille D’Honneurdes Vieux Serviteurs" MOH of Former old Public Servants

    D. MOH of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Decrees of July 13, 1886, 1893, 1913 & 1927)

The Current Issue since 1948 decree
The Medal of Honor of Labor (1948) has four Degrees:
For 25 Years Service- The Silver Medal
For 35 years Service- Silver-Gilt Medal with Rosette on the ribbon
For 43 Years Service- Gold Medal with Rosette on the Ribbon & Gold Wreath Suspension.

I’ve seen many pics of Vets wearing Umalatovas, as Ed said, with pride. It’s an interesting angle to collect especially when you can get the award document with it.

    Captain Valentin Petrovich Mikheev
A Very Courageous Soldier of the Great Patriotic War.

I I can’t find the pictures of his medal bar but, here’s his Order of the Red Banner S/N 44528. It’s missing the OPW, 2nd Class. His picture is from his Service Records. This is a complete set of Soviet Research which includes the Award record card (ARC), the Citation(s) and the Service Record. I’ll post the pics of the medal bar as soon as I find them.

A single, orphaned, very "salty" Glory III.

Guards Junior Sergeant Mikhail Petrovich Smadik, 22nd Guards Cavalry Regiment, 5th Guards Cavalry Division

    The recommendation:

"On the 1st of May 1945, while attacking the front line of the enemy’s defences Sergeant Smadik demonstrated courage and bravery while in the ranks of a mounted platoon. By his own initiative, during an attack in the area of Tsulen village, he chased the retreating enemy, killing 4 soldiers with the blade and taking 2 German officers prisoner. To this date, Comrade Smadik has 56 exterminated fascists on his battle account. He deserves the governmental award Order ‘Glory 3rd Class’."

Many medals missing, alas. But researched in full.
