I originally published my book back in 1986. The purpose of the book was to catalog all the military related medals issued by the state of Wisconsin and those issued within the borders of the state by local and private issuers. Also included in the “Civil” section were nonmilitary awards for life saving efforts, long government service and retirement. Now that a quarter of a century has passed I have started work on a second expanded and improved edition. I figure that it will be a full year before I am done with my additions and corrections and will be able to go to press. If anyone here has any medals that should be included in the book please post them here on this site. I will contact anyone who posts an unknown (to me) item. This way every one benefits from our efforts! Many thanks, Fred

Update; the book is progressing faster than expected and I now have a publisher lined up. Details will be worked out in a week or so and the way things are going the book could be available in soft cover and CD form by Thanksgiving. There will be over 300 listings with full color scans.

I am pleased to reportas of March 9, 2013 that my book is now in the hands of a graphic designer (I fired my original publisher) after which it will go to a local printer yet to be selected. It is expected to be ready before the OMSA convention this August. Printing in color will be very expensive and therefore the number printed will be very limited. The book will be spiral or coil bound which will make it very user friendly. Fred

I just visited your site and you have laid it out very well. If you get inspired by the book I can send you a lot of scans. Fred

The book is now in the hands of the printer. When born this baby will weigh in at 176 pages including the covers. With a much thinner wallet I can sit comfortably now and wait.

I saw the printer’s proofs today; pure eye candy, and one typo!

I think one of the immutable laws of the universe is that any new publication will contain at least one typo and (1) it will be on the first page you open to and (2) it will be such a clunker that it will jump off the page.

I’ve used your earlier book regularly, so I look forward to this one.

Thanks Jeff, this book is definitely law abiding.

The book is now in my hands. The printer and my graphic designer did a fantastic job and it looks much better than I ever expected it would. It will be available at the OMSA convention in Milwaukee. Hope to see you all there.
