Wikipedia presents itself as a collective encyclopedia project, a space to which everyone can contribute in so far its founding principles and rules are respected. The Wikipedia online encyclopedia is one of the emblematic examples of the digital commons. It is a powerful place for representing information and a potential platform for the transfer of university knowledge. It has the potential to carry out dissemination work done through more traditional channels (in particular specialized publications and conferences) by popularizing academic work. Well, Juanita, you can find quite a lot about medals on Wikipedia, there’s quite a thriving community – including several members of this Society – Frank Dutil and Sune Schønnemann spring to mind. I’ve been known to add the odd edit myself…
