Years ago, I contacted the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS) and made an inquiry about a numbered badge that I had. Since then, I thought that I had heard that MOLLUS no longer provides the identity of the original holders of badges to non-members, but I don’t know where I heard that. Is that true, or can I still contact them to have them trace a number? The badge is numbered in the 5000 range.

Several collectors have reformatted "Union Blue" and added numbers from various commandery publications, so there’s at least a partial roll out there. What’s the number?
It’s 5384.
I know there are some gaps in the records, but I recall that MOLLUS had most of the numbers, with the exception of a bock of issues around the 18000 range.

Issued to James Speed for a third class membership.
Speed was Lincoln’s Attorney General.
Third class membership went to civilians who rendered conspicuous service to the Union during the Civil War.
A very unusual badge. I don’t think I have ever seen a badge to a Third Class member.
