Some of you may know that Andreas Thies and Tom Johnson have teamed up to start a new auction house in the US. Their first sale will be held in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on 21-22 November 2014. The first day (Lots 1-612) will cover Imperial German orders, decorations and medals (mostly from the estate of Fred W. Rockwood); the second day will cover Third Reich material.

The catalog is available for download from their web site:

In full disclosure, I am an agent of the Rockwood Estate for the sale of Fred’s collections.

Well done! There is a lot of very nice material in there at reasonable prices.

It will be interesting to see if the US market can/will support this amount of Imperial German material. Some high-speed Third Reich material too, but I’m not in that market, so I can’t guess what will happen there.

It’s an impressive first auction – a copy of the hardcopy catalogue arrived at my house, a hefty 400+ pages hardback and full colour.
