Back in the late 1960’s (probably 1968) I met an Army SPEC5 who was on recruiting duty in Bakersfield, California.  I noticed that he was wearing the ribbon of the Soldier’s Medal and after a few conversations, he gave me this photo of him receiving the medal.  As I remember the story, he received it for saving a little girl from drowning in England, and I seem to recall he actually received some kind of recognition from the British government as well.  I don’t have any reference material on the recipients for the Soldiers Medal, and without knowing his name and the date of this event, none of the online sources I’ve look at have been helpful.  Can anyone provide any information on this soldier?  I’m guessing the even took place sometime between 1965 and 1969.

Hello. I am also researching a couple soldiers who were awarded the Soldiers Medal during the 2nd WW. Is there an official registry of this medal and possibly citations ?
