Software Update starting 1/18/16

We are having a software update for the website and forum starting January 18, 2016. The forum may be down for a few days to implement the changes. Hopefully it will not cause too much disruption.

The move to the WordPress powered website is now complete, we hope you will like it. It will provide a much better integration of the main website, image DB, Forum, and provide various Blogs as well. Currently, there is a problem with attachments to many Forum posts not showing up, this is being worked at, and should be fixed in a day or so. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Looking nice so far… and distracting me from working on my PhD 🙂

However, how do I add more images to the database? It appears to be ‘administrator only’ – or am I looking in the wrong place?

At the moment, adding images is “administrator only”.  I’ll send you a PM so you can send me the images directly.

As John said – he beat me to it, at the moment it’s limited to ‘administrators’ – basically to prevent spamming. We will be appointing a dedicated Image DB administrator soon, who can receive images and post them. The current DB have many duplicate images, and many of poor quality, and there will be some editing needed as well – to bring order into the way they are displayed as thumbnails among other things.

On the Forum, most images have been restored, but some are regrettably still missing. These are images that were uploaded with names using ‘strange’ characters like & | etc. If you spot any please bring it to our attention, sending the URL (and possibly the post #), and we will attempt to fix them. Is there, or is there going to be, a simple button for forum “See new messages ” ? (And one that doesn’t make the message immediately disappear – as per GMIC forum).

Graeme, There is no button per-se, but on the right you can see ‘Recent Replies’ listed, and you can click those and go to the particular thread.
