It is with great sadness that I pass along the news of J. Robert Elliott’s death. Bob was a 40-year friend who was a link to my early medal collecting days.
Because of health problems, Bob was not active for several years in OMSA functions, but was an early life member and regular convention attendee. He served as OMSA President for two terms, putting the organization on a business footing that allowed it to grow and prosper over the years. Bob was a regular exhibitor at OMSA conventions and took great pride in the prizes and trophies he accumulated over the years. His book on American society awards, co-authored with Lee Bishop, stands as the only source available on the majority of these awards.
He will be missed.
