    Hi guys,

I am not sure did I post it up here before…. can’t find anyway and also if I did, don’t remember what the answer(s) was…

However, just a quick question – what Order is on the picture? Looks like French? Or Spanish, Benelux countries???
From what period this award is and what would be the value….

That’s the reward medal of the french red cross.
3 classes, bronze, silver, gold. Still awarded today
The letters between each arm of the cross are CRF (Croix Rouge Française).
It’s an assciative medal, not an official one.

Just want to notice that this medal is not the first type as described in the site but the second type. The first type is circular, the third and current type is the same as the second but the letters are not hollowed.

Not really my area of collecting but I couldn’t pass up on this little beauty when I saw it. However, I am curious to know if this is an actual Red Cross Award or is it a Red Cross membership/sororal medal? I’m guessing its a membership medal.

    Thanks,
    John

After doing some on-line reaserch I learned that the Union des Femmes de France was organized by Protestant Women in 1881. The medal had two variations. The first with the planchet being flat and the second with it slightly domed. The circa of this medal is WWI era.

To be exact, this is the type 3.

    Type 1 is 44x30mm
    Type 2 is 28x23mm
Type 3 is the same with the words "croix rouge française"

Not a medal but a membership insignia, the UFF, with other societies, was integrated to the french red cross in august 1940.

Yours is a Paris Mint made in copper nickel zinc alloy (maillechort)
