Medal Dealer Lists, Collector Websites, Webrings, etc

Now going through the process of cleaning up my website, including fixing old broken links… leading again to the subject of Medal Dealer Lists, Collector Websites, Webrings, etc

(Not sure if I am missing something somewhere if this is already done and I just don’t know where…)

I see there is a small list of dealers on the right here with sponsor links.  How about having a (dealer-submittable) list of medal dealers somewhere ?  Back when I used to scour the internet continuously for medals, I used to search all the active dealers every few weeks. I had my own lists, and there were others that people had (Megan’s site, other collector sites, and the UK forum I think of offhand). But as OMSA is a members organization, perhaps it would be centralized to have something like that here ?  As long as it is in its own place, then I don’t see any problem with dealers putting their own links up.  As a collector I just want to know all the places I can search, so I don’t care that its advertising – that is what I want to find them.  (could be just a link, name, and short bio for anyone, and more exposure for sponsors) (could be moderated to avoid the other problems – I’m guessing that there are not that many for it to be burdensome)  To me something that is user generated gives more input than someone having to curate (which always dies off after their initial interest moves on)

Next: same concept for collector websites. Why not have user-submittable something somewhere, as repository for this ?

On to webrings…  I guess this concept disappeared in modern times.  There used to be a medals webring a long time back, which linked some of the above items.  I think the original manager ran out of time to manage it.  He asked for volunteers to manage it. I agreed to do that, and then he transferred over the login, but then immediately afterwards it collapsed. I don’t know what happened with that and was never able to get in touch again.  (I deleted this link from my website yesterday, as my link is now a crypto scam site and the domain is parked to sell – Megan take note your link is dead.)
