For those who are interested in lifesaving awards, there is now a complete (we think) roll of recipients of the Insull Medal on the OMSA site under the “research” tab. Harry Waterson and I have worked together to compile this record from publications of the National Electric Light Association, and Peter Lomdahl was kind enough to convert it into a searchable database. These medals were issued named, but with no other information on them. Now you can use the database to find out the year of award, city, and electric utility for which the recipient worked. From there, you will have to seach for newspaper reports to find details of the lifesaving acts that merited these awards, but this information should make that much easier.
This serves as a supplement to Harry Waterson’s excellent article on the Insull and McCarter medals published in JOMSA last year.
