I am attempting to have my collections appraised for insurance purpose. I cannot find anyone who does this. There is a firm in Texas but they said it would cost more than the value of my collection. I live in Louisiana but am willing to travel outside the state if I could find someone who performs this service. My original appraiser died several years ago and my collection was appraised at $3,500.00 thirty years ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Some auction houses are prepared to work from pictures rather than the actual objects – e.g. Morton & Eden, whose website is at http://www.mortonandeden.com/ – click on the Valuations tab to see what they say.
