Hi: I recently picked up the following Anhalt medal and ribbon bar. The medal seems fine to me, but I would like everyone’s opinion about the ribbon bar. The woven swords and rear pin strike me as being unusual. Any thoughts?

    Hello Tom:

The field ribbon bar is indeed unusual.  I have never seen hand-embroidered Hindenburg Cross swords before.  This is a good sign to me as a counterfeiter would not usually spend time with such a thing.  The ribbons are original.  This is a nice home-made field ribbon bar in my opinion.

    Best regards,

    Lorin

Thank you Lorin. Yes, I have never seen such hand-embroidering and so was curious about this.

    Best wishes,
    Tom

Looks like the original owner was very frugal and had a wife that was skilled with needle and thread.

Thanks Fred. I wish that I could track down more on the identity of the owner and his industrious wife!
