ParticipantAnders Behring Breivik, the psychopath Norwegian mass murderer, published a photo of himself with this uniform, and I was curious as to what this uniform is and if any of you could identify the various medals, ribbons and other accoutrement are.

You can find many of these on ebay.July 24, 2011 at 8:37 pm #14644jb floyd
ModeratorThe uniform appears to be a US Marine Corps uniform tarted up with the Knights Templar medals and US ribbons. From what I can make out:
Top row: Presidentiaql Unit Citation
Second row: Air Force Organizational Excellence Award; Legion of Merit; Bronze Star
Third row: Navy Cross; X; X
Fourth row: Coast Guard Arctic Service Medal; X; Air Force Training Ribbon
Fifth row: X; X; Purple Heart
Sixth row: Army Meritorious Unit Commendation; Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation; Army Valorous Unit Award(Those denoted by "X", I just can’t make out.)

ModeratorIt is a complete fantasy.
May the Lord receive the victims of this criminal into His eternal peace and comfort those who mourn those whose lives he destroyed. Amen.

ParticipantI heard he demanded to appear in (this?) uniform at court. I would be surprised if the court agreed.
One of his full-size medals seems to be the Polish Cross of Valor.

ParticipantOn his left sleeve is a skull & cross patch, which he also wears in the photo (attached) where he’s looking a bit chubby in his little wetsuit with the assault rifle and LBE. In that photo, the skull & cross emblem is on his left breast. He claims to have been in a group called the "Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici" (PCCTS) that was founded (or "re-formed", or whatever) in London in April 2002. That’s what he’s claiming is the Knights Templars. I assume that that’s what the skull & cross patch represents, his PCCTS group. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, I need to respectfully disagree with with Lukasz Gaszewski about one of the full size medals being a Polish Cross of Valor. I do agree with Henk-Willem that the full size medals are Masonic "Breast Jewels," from left to right as being:
1. Knight of Malta Breast Jewel
2. Knights Templar Breast Jewel
3. Red Cross of Constantine (First Degree Knight-Mason) Breast JewelOne can find images of these medals on masonic regalia sites.

It is possible. The shape of the cross and ribbon colors resemble the Cross of Valor, but I will not insist. Actually the photo is too small for a detailed examination, but upon a closer look is seems that the cross is covered with red enamel.

ParticipantThe medals are comming from this webshop: http://www.masoniccollection.com/
It is the following medals he have:
Name: Knights Templar Breast Jewel
Name: Masonic Knight of Malta Breast Jewel
Name: Red Cross of Constantine Breast JewelIt IS a USMC Dress uniform, and he have noted the problems of "borrowing" ribbons.
A better picture of his ribbon bars can be found here:
http://ekstrabladet.dk/112/article1592811.eceAccording to his Manifesto "2083 A European Declaration of Independence":

From page 1080 and on.Temporary adoption of readily available commendations/accessories
Considering the fact that there has not yet been established a European Overseerorganisation, we have not been able to focus our resources on uniform andcommendation (medal/ribbon) design and production. As such, we are left with no choicebut to temporarily adopt readily available existing designs from regular armies.Considering the fact that the most readily available commendations are from the USarmy we will have to adopt some of their military accessories until we have the capacity, organisational structure and funding to design our own. Hopefully, a well funded civilianOverseer organisation will be established by 2020 which will allow us access to authenticand original uniforms with decorations specifically designed for our accomplishments.Until we are in a situation where we have access to authentic and original medals we willhave no choice but to restrict/limit our full size decorations to illustrative ribbons formounting in ribbon racks.Red Cross Medal

ParticipantWhat a wingnut…
Thanks for the links to the interesting articles.
One thing interesting is that he describes precisely in his "Manifesto" the placement of all the uniform items… aiguillette worn on the left side, opposite side of decorations; "Badge of the Justiciar Knight" (This guy is such a jack-ass with all his made up shit, I can’t get over it) worn on the right upper arm; national flag, worn on the left upper arm. So, why would the photo be flipped, with the decorations on his left side, aiguillette on the right, skull & cross emblem on his left sleeve?
