Awarded for service with the Freikorps in ther Baltic region against Communist insugents between 1919-1921. Originally, only 21,839 were awarded.
This award was allowed to be worn after the general ban on Freikorps awards in late 1935.
The back is plain, but the inner golden cross is usually riveted into the "outer" black cross by two small pins.
