The obverse has on the outer edge: "Hospitais Civis De Lisboa" which translates to Civil Hospitals of Lisbon. In the center of the medal is the emblem of the Order of the Tower and Sword. The bar across the drap has a star in the center. The reverse center in a wreath is: "Comportamento Exemplar" or Exemplary Comportment. Bottom center of the medal is the date "1931". Outside of the wreath is: "Hosptais Civis De Lisboa" or Civil Hospitals of Lisbon.
