The Croix de Guerre / War Cross – Giraud 1943 has been instituted in Algiers, on 16 March 1943, by General Henri Giraud.

This Cross has been awarded mainly during the Tunisia campaign.
Close to 1,000 crosses have been awarded.

It will be cancelled and suppressed by Ordonnance of 7 January 1944.
