Does anyone know if George Orwell (Eric Blair) was awarded any medals for his service with the Colonial Police in Burma?
    Thank you, John

I don’t believe he was awarded any medals for his service in Burma, which he came to despise.

He was a member of the British Home Guard during WWII and was awarded the British Defence Medal as well as the War Medal for WWII.

Thank you. I often wonder what has happened to the medals of writers, artists, and British and Commonwealth persons of note . I would imagine many remain in the family and some go to the College or University that the person attended.
