Just a random thought--- would it be possible to video the seminars and exhibits and upload to the OMSA website or to U-TUBE or something similar so we "poor folk" can participate, albeit from afar ? If not this year maybe next?
Wish I could attend but hope it you all have a GREAT time :P

I have talked to a few people about putting video on to the convention. There are legal concerns concerning copyright on videos of seminar presentations. The bottom line is at video is probably going to happen. I do have my camera and will post photos for those who can't make it.

Post (as in after) OMSA Convention discussions

Postby jbigley » Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:15 am

Hello all:

I returned home safely from the OMSA convention and spent the evening unpacking.

I thought it was a very good convention, I had a good time, interesting and informative discussions with others, and learned many new "things" about medals and such.

Got a couple great books including the massive missive "WWI medal collectors companion" (some such title), Fred B's Purple Heart book "For Military Merit" and "Belgium Remembers and Honors the U.S. Armies of Liberation 1944-1945" by Lt Col Antoine de Baene.

Can't wait to start reading those. Also picked up some muchly needed ribbon from the OMSA ribbon bank.

And did get a few medals.
Congrats to the conference organizers and thanks to all those who attended.
Regards, Jim B

I just saw the "2011Convention" thread, I guess my above "Post Convention Discussion" post should be moved there...

Hi all,
Just got home late last night from Convention. I had a very good time and wanted to thank the organizers and everyone else. I enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to next years convention.

I, too, am finally home after the convention. It was good to see old friends again.

I was only able to make it to a couple of seminar presentations, but those went well.

Some excellent exhibits as well. Doug Peck earned the Best of Show award for his exhibit of Pennsylvania First Defender Medals. Also, excellent exhibits of medals relating to the British at the Battle of Maiwand; the Norwegian War Cross; the VFW Aviation and Space Medal of Valor to Astronaut Edward White; the Portuguese Order of Public Instruction; Australian Police awards, etc. All well worth the time to look at them in detail.

Unfortunately, no new toys for me this time.

Unfortunately, I was unable to upload any photos in Jacksonville. My iPad didn't like to put on photos. I am attaching a few here to give some of you who weren't there an idea of the bourse.

I had a great time, catching up with old friends and making new ones, The hotel was comfortable and clean, the food was pretty good (Thursday night "snacks") easy access and just an overall great time...Oh, did I mention "purchases"!!!

BIG Thanks to Tim and his group that made this a great convention
